IPMA receives Sir Monty Finniston Award 2015
During the Award Gala of the Association for Project Management (APM) the International Project Management Association (IPMA) received the Sir Monty Finniston Award for its engagement in moving the profession forward. IPMA is very proud being the recipient of this prestigious Award. Sir Harold Montague “Monty” Finniston (1912–1991) was a British industrialist and President of the APM from 1984 until 1991.
The Award is given to individuals or organisations for a significant contribution to the art and science of project management. Certainly, IPMA deserves this after 50 years of continuous efforts moving the profession forward. Started as an experience exchange of some passionate people in Europe, today IPMA is a network of more than 60 Member Associations throughout the world. IPMA is member-driven and volunteer-staffed. The Member Associations develop project management competences in their geographic areas of influence interacting with thousands of practitioners and developing relationships with corporations, government agencies, universities and colleges, as well as training organizations and consulting firms (more about the history of IPMA can be found here). The Executive Board is very happy about the Award and dedicates the Award to all volunteers supporting the idea of IPMA since 50 years in all parts of the world.
It will help IPMA to achieve its vision, which is: “promote competence throughout the society to enable a world in which all projects succeed”.
Reinhard Wagner has been active for more than 30 years in the field of project- related leadership, in such diverse sectors as Air Defense, Automotive Engineering, and Machinery, as well as various not-for-profit organizations. As a Certified Projects Director (IPMA Level A), he has proven experience in managing projects, programmes and project portfolios in complex and dynamic contexts. He is also an IPMA Certified Programme and Portfolio Management Consultant, and as such supports senior executives in developing and improving their organizational competence in managing projects. For more than 15 years, he has been actively involved in the development of project, programme and portfolio management standards, for example as Convenor of the ISO 21500 “Guidance on Project Management” and the ISO 21503 “Guidance on Programme Management”. Reinhard Wagner is Past President of IPMA and Chairman of the Council, Honorary Chairman of GPM (the German Project Management Association), as well as Managing Director of Tiba Managementberatung GmbH.
