IPMA Executive Board

The IPMA Executive Board is responsible for the executive management of IPMA and sets the practical guidelines for all approved activities. It organises the internal administration, assesses new candidates for membership and represents IPMA in all external relations. The Executive Board is deeply committed to promoting project management competences globally, and the Board Members reflect the international character of IPMA.

The Executive Board (ExBo) works closely together with the Chairperson of the Council, the Chief Operating Officer, as well as the Global Directors, Committees, Boards, Project Managers, other officers, volunteers, and staff.

How We Run IPMA

IPMA Governance consists of a Council of Delegates, an Executive Board, Executive Director and several Management Boards, working and project groups and a Secretariat. The Council and Board Members are from all over the world and reflect the Global nature of IPMA.

History of IPMA

The exchange of experiences in IPMA (formerly INTERNET) has a long tradition. It all begun in the year 1964. A European aircraft Project Manager, Pierre Koch of France, invited Dick Vullinghs from the Netherlands and Roland Gutsch from Germany to discuss the benefits of the Critical Path Method (CPM) as a management approach.

IPMA Honours

An Honorary Fellowship shall be conferred only on persons rendering exceptional services for IPMA or to the practice or theory of Project Management. Candidates for honorary fellowship are suggested by Member Associations, nominated by the Executive Board, and elected by the IPMA Council of Delegates, our 60+ nation governing body.
