The rector of the UPV, José Esteban Capilla, along with the president of AEIPRO-IPMA Spain, María Socorro García Cascales, welcomed the participants at the Rector’s Office. On Saturday, the competition was inaugurated by Ángel Ortiz, the director of the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering.
One of the most touching moments occurred when Jesús Martínez Almela, the IPMA Chairman of the Council, in his speech paid tribute to the late Yvonne Schoper, IPMA Vice President for Young Crew and Talent Management, who passed away recently.
During the dinner, María Socorro García Cascales, the president of AEIPRO, presented Irina Bolognesi with a plaque of recognition to the IPMA Young Crew. This plaque was given in appreciation for the trust placed in AEIPRO Joven for organizating the international final of the PM Championship.
Likewise, IPMA Young Crew acknowledged the exceptional contributions of Joaquín Abadín, the head of AEIPRO Joven, for his invaluable efforts in ensuring the success of this year’s edition.
During the Gala dinner where the awards were presented, a special recognition was given to the first Spanish team to win the international phase of the PM Championship: the UPV team composed of Juan Pablo Morales González, Luis Felipe Vanegas Girón, Paula Guijarro Muntaner, and Vicenzo Pedro Cozza.
The efforts of Salvador Capuz, the director of the Department of Engineering Projects and the Master’s Degree in Project Management of the UPV, along with the dedication of the volunteers from AEIPRO Joven, led by Vanesa Lo Iacono, a member of the AEIPRO board of directors, and the Director of Management of AEIPRO, Ángela Paneque, are highly appreciated for their significant contributions in organizing the final event.
The IPMA PM Championship is intended for full-time students in Higher Education studying courses related to project management.
Its main objectives are to promote student participation in project management, increase interest in professional project management at a national and international level, and promote dialogue, knowledge exchange, and know-how between research and business.
Each team must solve an actual life case study in 4 hours and then present it.
