IPMA Welcomes New Member Association: Academy for Project Leadership and Management, Australia and New Zealand

In a significant development for the project management community in Australia and New Zealand, IPMA is proud to announce the establishment of IPMA-Australia, represented by Academy for Project Leadership and Management. This new Member Association was officially endorsed by 70+ countries of the IPMA Council of Delegates, marking the return of IPMA representation in the region after several years of absence.

Our Australian member association aims to become a vital part of IPMA. IPMA, the global body of project profession itself, is a pioneering organization in the field of project management, with a history dating back to 1965. It now includes more than 70 national member associations, each representing their national project management communities worldwide. It is renowned for facilitating professional development, offering certifications, fostering peer interaction and relationship building, and promoting project excellence through awards and collaborations. By joining this extensive network, IPMA-Australia will contribute to and benefit from the global movement towards sustainable and competence-based project management practices.

At the signing ceremony of the membership agreement, Leh Simonelli, Director of IPMA-Australia, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are thrilled for Australia to be back to the IPMA Family. Our commitment is to serve as the voice for project managers within the project management community in the region. We eagerly anticipate forging strategic alliances with like-minded organizations to influence discussions and advance the profession.”

IPMA President Mladen Vukomanović also commented on the occasion, highlighting the significance of the new association: “At IPMA, we deeply appreciate the strong interest shown by the Australian and New Zealand’s project management community and the maturity level on which they operate. As a global leader in competence-based project management and sustainable practices, we place great trust in the experienced team leading IPMA-Australia, led by its Director Leh Simonelli.
