Iran Project Management Championship 2019 Final Report
The final round of Project Management Championship has taken place with special support from Oil Industries Commissioning and Operation Company (OICO) at the 24th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition on May 3rd, Friday, 2019. Above all, Iran Young Crew held this contest, which includes three steps, to explore young talented men and women. In the national round, fifty students (below 35 years old) responded individually to 60 questions from general project management topics and the ICB standard in 60 minutes.
A week later, the grades with details were reported to each participant and the ones who get above 50% of total scores, was invited to the qualification round. Prior to the qualification round, a meeting was held to team up and give some necessary explanation about rules, then participants were formed into six teams with four members from the following universities: University of Tehran, Tarbiat Modares University (No. 1&2), Shahid Beheshti University (No. 1&2) and Tehran University of Art. This round the teams took an online exam through “become.pm” web portal with 100 English questions in 100 minutes under the sponsorship of IPMA Young Crew.
All six teams succeeded to achieve above 50% of total scores and get to the next step. At the case study round, final round, a real case study with 2 main questions were proposed by Oil Industries Commissioning and Operation Company (OICO). This case study was a serious challenge of commissioning oil projects that the company solved using a creative solution in 20th and 21st Phase of the South Pars Gas Field. The case study round took place in the 24th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition at OICO booth.
Participants had almost 4 hours to respond to this real case study. After the deadline, referee committee, consist of Seyed Vahid Hosseini (Head of Iran PMC Committee), Abdollah Samadi (Industrial Representative), Seyed Hossein Hosseini Nourzad (Academic Representative), Farhad Nasrollahpour (Iran Young Crew Chairman and IranPMA MB Representative) and Mohhamad Mahoud (Iran Young Crew Leader), started to evaluate the teams’ answers and finally the team of Tarbiat Modarres University (No. 2) which consists of Mr Amir Hossein Montazeri, Mr Masoud Rahimi, Mr Faraz Golkash and Ms Negar Sarvghadi in a close-run contest with the University of Tehran team, succeeded to achieve the first rank.
At the end of the event, all teams have been given certification of the final round and the winner team was awarded a special gift (Championship Cup). Ultimately, the winning team is introduced to IPMA YC as our country representative entitled to “Iran Project Management Champion” to take part in the regional PMC.
