IPMA Executive Board Meets with SMaP, IPMA’s Member Association in France: Exploring New Avenues in Project Management

In a recent meeting of the IPMA’s Executive Board (ExBo) and the Board of SMaP – “Société de Management de Projet”, an association promoting project management knowledge, and the IPMA Member Association in France, exciting developments and initiatives were discussed. The gathering brought together key stakeholders to review progress, explore new avenues, and strengthen the bond between IPMA and SMaP.

Highlights of the meeting were the discussions of the progress made by the SMaP’s Certification Body to increase significantly Certification revenue and of the re-start of a Young Crew within SMaP. The Young Crew is a platform within IPMA that nurtures and supports the development of young project management professionals. SMaP’s commitment to fostering young talent in the field of project management was acknowledged and applauded by the ExBo.

Another significant topic on the agenda was the role-based certification in project management. This innovative approach to certification developed with SMaP customers allows professionals to obtain recognition and credentials specific to their roles within the project management sphere. The discussion revolved around how this approach could benefit SMaP members and elevate the standards of project management in France and globally at the IPMA level.

SMaP’s expanding cooperation with corporate customers was a key point of interest during the meeting. The association has been actively delivering workshops on project management to corporate clients, aiming to enhance their project management capabilities. This initiative underscores SMAP’s dedication to not only promoting excellence within its membership but also to contribute to the success of the broader project management community.

On that occasion, IPMA President Prof. Dr. Mladen Vukomanović said that SMaP has always been dedicated to IPMA, the project profession, and has stood as a beacon of excellence in France. Marc Valayer, the President of SMaP, in response, emphasized the association’s deep appreciation for IPMA’s acknowledgment and underscored SMAP’s pivotal role in France as a driving force for project management excellence in the country. The President reiterated SMAP’s unwavering commitment to advancing the profession and fostering positive change in the field.
