IPMA Forms Strategic Alliance with Brest Business School

Communiqué March 31st, 2024

IPMA announces a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2024 with Brest Business School (BBS) in France, marking a new significant milestone of collaboration in the realm of project management education and practice. This partnership reflects a shared vision for advancing project management knowledge and skills globally.

This MoU underscores the mutual benefits of partnership in teaching, certification, and knowledge dissemination in project management, leveraging the strengths of both institutions.

IPMA will facilitate the connection between its national Member Associations across 70 countries and BBS, along with its worldwide network of business school partners. This initiative aims to foster a more interconnected global project management community.

Both parties agree to cooperate in the fields of training, education, and teaching in project management. BBS will have the opportunity to apply for the Project Management program currently being developed by IPMA, incorporating a comprehensive curriculum in line with the IPMA International Competence Baseline ICB4.0. The collaboration aims to enhance project management degree programs at BBS, as well as formulating joint degree programs with other business schools and universities worldwide.

Besides that, IPMA and BBS will collaborate on a Special Interest Group (SIG) to address key topics in project management, drawing upon a network of experts for insights and innovation. There is also a cooperative effort foreseen for BBS to join the IPMA REG system, which oversees registered training and education providers, to further cement this partnership.

This partnership is a part of IPMA’s broader strategy of forging global alliances, followed by its numerous successful events and collaborations with global partners. These alliances open doors on the global level, amplifying the benefits down to IPMA’s national Member Associations worldwide. The synergy from these collaborations creates a fertile ground for sharing best practices, innovative approaches, and cutting-edge knowledge in project management, thus elevating the project profession on an international scale.

Commenting on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Mladen Vukomanović said: “This MoU is more than a commitment to mutual cooperation; it represents a strategic step towards realizing a world where project management is an essential part of sustainable development. Our collaboration with Brest Business School embodies IPMA’s core mission to orchestrate the project profession for a better world, uniting global expertise to empower and elevate the field of project management.”

Dr. SHEN Dai, General Director of BBS, said: “This MoU marks a significant milestone in the journey towards global excellence in project management education and practice, promising a brighter future for practitioners and students alike.”

With kind regards,

Prof. Dr. Mladen Vukomanović

IPMA President
