On behalf of Prof. Dr. Mladen Vukomanović, IPMA President, and the IPMA Executive Board, we express our sincere condolences on the passing of Peter Tarnoki, long-standing President and Delegate of FOVOSZ, IPMA’s Member Association in Hungary, and a highly respected member of the international project management community.

Peter Tarnoki dedicated more than 40 years of his professional life to foreign trade and international cooperation, serving in complex export and trade projects as well as at the Hungarian Foreign Trade Missions in Iraq and Kuwait as Commercial Counsellor. He later served as Senior Chief Counsellor at the Hungarian Trade Licensing Authority.

In parallel with his professional career, Peter became deeply engaged in the advancement of project management. Appointed Secretary General and CoD Delegate of FOVOSZ (IPMA Hungary) in 1998, he became one of the key figures in strengthening Hungary’s role within the IPMA community. He was the main architect behind the establishment of the Hungarian Certification Body in 2002 and played a leading role in successfully hosting the 18th IPMA World Congress in Budapest in 2004 under the theme “Cross-Cultural Networking.”

Throughout the years, Peter remained a dedicated supporter of the IPMA ecosystem and the advancement of the project management profession.

Prof. Dr. Mladen Vukomanović, IPMA President, stated:

“Peter was a long-standing supporter and true friend of IPMA and the project management profession. His dedication, energy, and commitment left a lasting impact on our community and inspired many colleagues and friends around the world.”

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire FOVOSZ community during this difficult time.
