About International Project Management Association
IPMA is a Federation consisting of a network of about 70 Member Associations (MAs). Some MAs are also named IPMA, some have their own name. Our MAs develop project management competences in their geographic areas of influence, interacting with and developing relationships with professionals, corporations, government agencies, universities and colleges, as well as training organisations and consulting companies. Aiding the development of the project management competences is a comprehensive portfolio of products and services. Is there an MA present in your country? Click here to find out more.
Our Vision
IPMA is orchestrating the project profession for a better world.
IPMA History
IPMA is the world’s first project management association, founded in 1965. Our Member Associations cooperate to help project and programme managers achieve project and business success. Originally started as an international network to exchange project management experiences, the organisation developed into global organisation in the 1970s, organising courses and events. In 1996 the organisation was renamed as IPMA, International Project Management Association, and started it certification activities. Click here for more information about our history.
How We Run IPMA
IPMA is driven by its members and volunteers. The IPMA boards, teams and Member Associations consist of enthusiastic, experienced project management practitioners. As a global organisation, we collaborate on an ongoing basis, organising regular Executive Board and bi-annual Council of Delegates (for Member Associations) meetings. This “collaborate globally, serve locally” approach to serving our community is unique to IPMA. Executive Board members are elected for a three-year period. See the current Executive Board members here.
